Designations & Certifications

Jim Roberts, a native Texan, grew up in Dallas playing soccer, basketball and tennis. He and his younger brother focused mainly on soccer and played for select teams in Dallas. Jim traveled to Mexico to compete in a tournament with his club team when he was 15 and then won a big tournament in Dallas when he was 16. They went on to compete in the national finals and became the national champions for boys soccer 16 years and under. Jim learned through sports that if he worked hard, he could improve and see the benefits of his hard work. His coach motivated him to push himself, and he became a starter for the team.

Jim was raised in a Christian home, which set the foundation for his life. Christmas time was always special, when his family would all come together to celebrate at his parents’ home. They always enjoyed going to see the Christmas lights in University Park and Highland Park, a tradition his family still embraces today.

Jim met his wonderful wife, Cynthia, in church in 1996, and they were married in 1998. They have been married for 20 years, sticking together during good times and bad. They have lived in Dallas, Frisco, and currently the Addison area.

Jim went to Brookhaven College, with a focus on sociology. He enjoyed studying people, society, and how we all interact. He has been in sales, in some capacity, throughout the years, whether it was outside sales or business to business on the phone. One of his jobs was with one of the big five accounting firms, where he was to call high-level executives with a net worth of $100 million or more, to try to set an appointment to discuss family wealth planning. The biggest client he brought on board was worth $900 million.

In 2002, he and his wife started a janitorial service and have enjoyed being entrepreneurs ever since. Growing the business was exciting and gave them a good feeling of accomplishment. Although Jim has gone into real estate, he and his wife still have one commercial janitorial account, which they’ve had for the past 11 years.

Jim got his real estate license in 2010 and loves seeing people achieve their dream of finding a home they would love to live in, or selling their home so they can pursue other adventures. He has always enjoyed talking with people and learning about their backgrounds and lives. He likes the variety of real estate and knowing the sky is the limit. Every day is a new day, and anything is possible.

Jim volunteers one day a week for Meals on Wheels. He believes it is good and necessary for people to give back to their community. He enjoys helping others and has always had compassion for others. Visiting with the people on his route lifts him up when he is having a bad day.

Jim and his wife like finding new areas of the metroplex which offer different events. Downtown Grapevine has an old movie theater which shows the oldies, and he loves watching movies from the Golden Era, especially starring John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day, etc. They also enjoy finding mom and pop coffee houses and trying new restaurants.
